MUSEUM EXPERIENCE
TIME:
40 minutes
OBJECTIVES:
1. Students will be able to view the many exhibits at the
Banner County Museum site including the log house, sod house,
bank, prairie grasses, windmill and machinery.
2. Students will scrutinize and interact
with selected indoor exhibits.
3. Students will become aware of certain
exhibits which may inspire later investigations and activities
(brands, quilts, photography, newspapers and microfiche,
fashions).
4. Students will utilize the antique
player piano and organ during a sing-along session.

The students come into the main building of the museum and are
seated. The teacher points out several items and the
children tell what they think it is and for what it was used.
While observing the living room display, it is noted there is no
television or radio. What did they do for entertainment?
There is a stereoscope that the children view.

The teacher then describes a few items the students are to look
for as they walk around to view the displays, i.e. a picture
made from human hair, an iron lung, a chain carved from one
piece of wood.
The sound of the player piano brings the
children together in a hurry.
