Jeanni Hohnstein has been teaching for 27 years.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  Her hobbies include quilting, scrapbooking, cooking, skiing, biking, skydiving, mountain climbing and doting on her grandson.

Kathy Reece has been teaching for eleven years.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Washington State University.  Her hobbies include gardening, snow skiing, reading, biking, working out, and football.

Donna Sibray has been with Lake Alice since 1989.  She is responsible for the library and special education. She holds a BSRT degree in Radiologic Science and Nursing from the University of New Mexico.   Her hobbies include walking, reading, computers and biking.

Amie Hessler has been teaching for eleven years.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Chadron State College.  Her hobbies include reading, cross-stitch, quilting, horseback riding, camping and family.

Loni Schlothauer has been teaching for fourteen years.  She hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from Chadron State College.  Her hobbies include birding, hiking, artifact and rock collecting, and gardening with Sam, her husband.

Kim Nielsen has been teaching for fifteen years.  He holds two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Science from the University of Nebraska and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Chadron State College.  His hobbies include rock and fossil collecting, motorcycles, soccer and family.

Trudy Schnell has been teaching for eight years.  She holds two degrees:  a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with three areas of concentration and a Bachelor of Arts in Library Media.  Her hobbies include reading, puzzles, computers, animals, camping, painting, gardening and quilting.

 Karen Johnson is the school's administrator. She is certified in administration, K-8 education and early childhood.  She attended Whittenberg University, University of Dayton, Central State in Oklahoma and the University of San Francisco in Guadalajara.  Her hobbies include riding, reading and camping.

Lorinda Trout  has been teaching K-8 music at Lake Alice since 1999.  She has been teaching music for eight years, seven in the Class I schools.  She has taught at Wheatland, Lake Minatare, and Haig and currently teaches at both Lake Alice and Highland schools.  She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wyoming.  She annually directs both the open house program in September and the Winter Program in December.  She has been married to her husband, Mark, for 17 years, and has three children, ages 14, 10, and 4.

Candace Crouch is one of the bus drivers.  This is her second year at Lake Alice, but she first started driving bus in Nevada in 1991.  She has two children who are both graduates of Lake Alice.  Her hobbies include refurbishing her house (she especially likes drywall), horseback riding, and all types of outdoor activities.

 

Yvonne Randall is the new cook's assistant.  She has filled in as secretary, custodian and cook's help in the past so she is a familiar face.

Cheryl Rose is our school secretary.  She has three children.  They attend Lake Minatare School.  She has worked as a secretary in the County Superintendent office and the County Health Office.

 

Audrey Helser is our newest "old"employee.  She is driving bus for us again after a ten year hiatus.  She is also co-owner of Pasta Villa in Gering.  She has no time for hobbies, as she is either cooking or driving.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Board Members

Mike Watson --- President

Mike has been on the board for -- years and has served as president for -- years.  He is currently employed at the hospital as a pharmacy technician and farms in his spare time.

Glenn Fillinger is starting his second  year on the board as the Treasurer. He is currently working at Heilbruns.

 

Mardell Grob-Berck --- Secretary

Mardell has been on the board for three years.  She has a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics from the University of Nebraska.  She has a Masters in Behavior Disorders and Learning Disabilities from the University of Northern Colorado.  She taught for about fifteen years.  She currently is the Executive Director for Safe Harbor and owns her own business as well.

 

Dan Thornton is starting his second year on the board.  He is currently working as the superintendent of Lake Minatare.  In addition, he fills in as a substitute bus driver and drives for the various field trips that the classes take.  He does any non-routine maintenance and building projects as they come up.  In addition to all of this, he is also the new basketball coach for the fifth through eighth graders.
