| BASIC CABINET CONSTRUCTION (WOODS 1) 1901 CREDITS: 5 PER SEMESTER PREREQUISITE: NONE GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Each student will learn the fundamentals in cabinet and small project construction, through a practical" Hands on Experience". During this process Safety and correct operation of power equipment will be stressed. MODE OF PRESENTATION: Lecture, discussion, laboratory, demonstrations, application, and individualized instruction. Note average project costs: $80.00 plus fees. COURSE INTENDED FOR: 9th-12th ADVANCED CABINET CONST. (WOODS 2) 1902 CREDITS: 5 PER SEMESTER PREREQUISITE: ONE YEAR OF BASIC CABINET CONSTRUCTION (WOODS 1) GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A high level of skill application used to design, layout, construct, and finish a solid wood cabinet or furniture product. Student will analyze various building techniques, processes and procedures. Note: Average project cost range from $90.00 to $300.00 dollars plus fees per year. MODE OF PRESENTATION: Lecture, discussion, demonstrations, laboratory, and application. COURSE INTENDED FOR: 10th-12th ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING 1900 CREDITS: 5 PER SEMESTER PREREQUISITE: NONE GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Students will draw geometric, orthographic, isometric, and development of various mechanical objects during the first semester. Second semester students will design and draw a residential house plan. Students will draw in detail a complete set of residential house plans; in accordance to requirements and codes. Each student shall design his or her own house. MODE OF PRESENTATION: Lecture, discussion, demonstration, laboratory, and application. COURSE INTENDED FOR: 9th-12th AUTO-CAD (Computer aided Drafting) 1923 CREDITS: 5 PER SEMESTER PREREQUISITE: ONE YEAR OF ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: An exploration of computer-aided drafting and design. Students will study and apply Auto-CAD through a practical (hands-on) design/drafting program. MODE OF PRESENTATION: Lecture, discussion, laboratory, individualized instruction. COURSE INTENDED FOR: 10th-12th CONSTRUCTION 1934 CREDITS: 5 PER SEMESTER PREREQUISITE: WOODS I, & ARCHITECTURE DESIRED, or INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The building construction technology program provides education and training in planning, frame and trim carpentry, estimating, codes, blueprint reading, and construction materials. Throughout the training students have opportunities to apply the knowledge, as they are involved in building a new house from the planning stages to the final touches. MODE OF PRESENTATION: Lectures, discussions, demonstrations, videos, worksheets, and application. COURSE INTENDED FOR: 10th12th WELDING 1 1910 CREDITS: 5 PER SEMESTER PREREQUISITE: NONE GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Each student will learn the fundamentals in welding, oxyacetylene cutting and plasma arc cutting. We will do small project construction, through a practical "hands on experience." During this process safety and correct operation of power equipment will be stressed.
