Third quarter report cards were distributed at second semester Parent-Teacher Conferences on March 17 and 18, 2008. If you were not able attend, I would encourage you to contact your child's teachers and inquire into his/her progress.

While these were the last regularly scheduled conferences for this school year, you may still call the school to arrange meetings with teachers. Report cards that were not picked up during Parent-Teacher Conferences were distributed to students. If you did not receive a copy of your child's report card, please contact the office and we will make sure you get one!

We have already started registering students for the '08-'09 school year and we are building the schedule based on these requests. If you are curious about the classes that your child has registered for, you can call the school and we will send a hard copy home for you to review. Also, a hard copy will be sent home with all students when they come in for final registration in August.

"Testing Season" is upon us. We will have completed some of the STARS exams in March and will continue with the remaining STARS exams in April. The STARS exams are one of the main tests we use to monitor our students' progress towards meeting State Standards. The test results are reported to the Nebraska Department of Education in June. This information is then used as part of the State report Card for the district. We also administer NWEA MAPS assessments in grades 7-9. MAPS assessments are an excellent indicator of your child's academic growth during the school year. A copy of your child's results and a brochure that describes the MAPS assessments will be sent home with your child once we receive the completed assessment information. Watch for the test results sometime in May and be sure to contact your child's teacher if you have any questions of concerns.

Spring activities are in full swing. There will be several golf and track meets during the next few months. Please support our students by attending their events. Your support will be greatly appreciated by all of those involved.

I enjoy this opportunity to communicate with you and appreciate your help and support in so many school activities. I would like to encourage you to contact me if you have any questions about any of the Jr.-Sr. High School programs or activities. I look forward to hearing from you.

Educationally yours,

Dr. Kenton J. McLellan
